Porsche's Bold Marketing Drive at KymiRing: A Unique Experience
Automotive journalist covering car reviews, industry news, and automotive technology

In a bold move to invigorate its customer engagement and sales strategy, Porsche has embarked on a significant marketing initiative at KymiRing, Finland. The luxury car manufacturer, facing a global sales slump, is banking on its World Road Show to captivate potential buyers and convert experiences into sales.
The Challenge Facing Porsche
Globally, Porsche is experiencing its first major sales challenge in 25 years. As the automotive industry shifts towards electric vehicles, Porsche's traditional customer base has been slow to adapt to electric drivetrains. In response, the company is re-evaluating its strategies, continuing the development of synthetic fuels for combustion engines, and even planning a new mid-size SUV with a combustion engine to complement its electric Macan.
World Road Show: An Experience Beyond Sales
At the heart of this initiative is the Porsche World Road Show, a global test drive tour providing current and prospective Porsche owners an opportunity to experience the brand's vehicles. Aarne Töllinen, the business director of Porsche's Finnish importer, expresses optimism that this week-long marketing effort will translate into orders. The event, which moved from Norway to Finland and will head to Sweden next, offers a blend of off-road adventures and high-speed track experiences with models like the iconic 911.
Unique Offerings at KymiRing
The event at KymiRing is not a perpetual circus but is organized in waves across continents. This marks only the second time the event has come to Finland, with the last visit 17 years ago. With a MotoGP-level track available, the decision to host it at KymiRing was natural. The show features nearly 30 cars, including the latest 911 Carrera S and the 911 GT3, which attendees test on the track. Notably, the event is free for invitees, a rarity for such international experiences.
Expectations and Impact
Töllinen is hopeful that the roadshow will lead to substantial sales. He anticipates that the immersive experience will motivate attendees to explore Porsche's offerings further. The Finnish market has seen a 70% growth in Porsche registrations this year, driven by an expanding model range and the appeal of tax-free electric vehicles.
The Future of Porsche Sales in Finland
With the Porsche World Road Show setting a new standard for brand experience in Finland, the company is optimistic about sustained growth. As the market shifts towards electric vehicles, Porsche's strategy of offering both traditional and electric options appears to be paying off. The introduction of new models like the fully electric Cayenne later this year is expected to further boost sales.
